These recordings are samples of audio productions made by participants of
the media training opportunity “Women
speak up for themselves” at AfricanTide Union
e.V.(ATU)
in Dortmund. Women came
together taking
first joint steps in
producing
their own Media,
explore and gain
know-how in
how they could
tell their stories to
make themselves heard in the “information age”.
In interviews and conversations, the women talk about a life between different cultures, education of the children (02), the importance of International Women’s day in Europe and Africa (03), violence against women (05), and the participation of women in all aspects of social, public and political life.
The activities were part of a series of special events in the annual celebration of International Women’s Day at AfricanTide. The 5’ remix “Frauen sprechen fur sich”/ Women speak up for themselves” includes excerpts of various recordings and was presented at the final celebratory event for International Women’s Day.
